Hurt Feelings

I was making drumming noises after we went to a percussionist performance at the library today.

Jacob said, “Please stop. You’re hurting my feelings!”

I said, “Your feelings? Where are your feelings?”

He pointed to his throat and said, “They’re on the inside, and they’re kind of a bluish white. What color are your feelings?”

Crunchy Christ

Today Jacob was performing mass, his favorite thing to play. He was passing out the Eucharist to me when he suddenly stopped. He put the chalice down and said, “Maybe not this Blood of Christ because it’s a spicy Blood of Christ. And this is a crunchy Body of Christ, so we need a new one.”

Katie’s Mother’s Day gift

Today at RE Katie made a Mother’s Day gift for me. She was so excited and insisted that I didn’t peek in the bag. When we got home, I came in first, leaving her in the garage. She came in a few minutes later, crying uncontrollably. I asked her what was wrong, and she said that somehow she had ended up with the wrong gift. She now had a picture frame that said, “I love Mama” in someone else’s messy handwriting. To say she was devastated is not an exaggeration.

With a quick text to her teacher and a trip back up to church, we were able to remedy the situation. Her whole body relaxed when she had her proper gift bag in hand. Can’t wait to see my special frame next week!

Jacob’s Favorite Color

Earlier this week Jacob was sitting by himself in the playroom, and I overheard him cracking up.

I asked him why he was laughing. He said, “Because red used to be my favorite color. Now green is my favorite color, but I still like red!” Then he proceeded to crack up over it again.
